HOOFBALL Hoofball is the newest Horse Sport to emerge in New Zealand, and its appeal is spreading quickly throughout many facets of the riding community.
Our goal is to promote Hoofball throughout New Zealand and around the world. Click on options above to order a Hoofball, learn about the sport of Hoofball or general benefits that a Hoofball can provide for you and your horse, and provide or read feedback from fellow Hoofballers.
Hoofball is soccer on horseback and like any other soccer game, the objective is to get the ball between your opposition's goal posts more often than your opponent. It is slower than traditional mounted games with the optimum speed being a trot as this is the pace best suited for horses kicking the balls. The emphasis of the game is fun and communication with the horse. Hoofball can be played by any type and size of horse, so regardless of what you ride, Hoofball is for you. The rider’s age is no barrier as long as they have control of the horse. We have participating riders from children to 75 years old, so there really is no excuse for not taking up this fun sport. Hoofballs are fantastic toys for the horse and rider who love to play. It is amazing how much a horse loves to play, either on his own or interacting with his handler. Unmounted play strengthens the bond between horse and handler and has amazing flow on effects. There are many delightful video clips on Youtube showing 'hoofballs’ in action. Take the time to view these. We know you will be hooked!!
The photos and information on this site will give you an idea of what Hoofball is all about, but there is nothing like actually participating, so contact us to find out how YOU can start playing Hoofball ! |
